Frequently asked questions
How does it work?
Each page is rendered, OCR runs on-device with Tesseract, and an invisible text layer is placed over a rebuilt page image so viewers can search and copy.
Is there a page limit?
Yes, about 20 pages per run to keep browser memory safe. Split longer scans first.
Will the PDF look different?
Pages are re-rasterized at a working resolution. Visual quality stays close for typical scans; vector sharpness may change slightly.
Is Make PDF Searchable free?
Yes. Free with no limits or watermarks, because everything runs on your own device.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. OCR and PDF rebuild run locally in your browser. Your document never leaves your device.
